EventWrangler is operated by Kijani Consulting LLC, doing business as Green Buoy, of 3710 Shannon Road #51422, Durham, NC 27717. In this document, "we" and "us" mean Kijani Consulting LLC.
EventWrangler helps people organize volunteer events. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than the usual thicket.
The short version
- If you organize an event, we store your email and what you plan.
- If you sign up to bring something, we store your name, your email, and what you claimed — and your name is visible to everyone else with the link. That's how a sign-up sheet works.
- Event descriptions are sent to an AI provider so we can suggest quantities and slots.
- We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies.
- We don't sell anything to anybody.
What we collect
If you organize an event. Your email address, the events you create, and everything in them: the description, headcount, budget, quantities, sign-up slots, and any notes you add afterward about how it went.
If you sign up for a slot. Your name, your email address, the slot you claimed, and anything you type into a comment field. You don't need an account to do this.
Automatically. Standard web-server information — IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and where you arrived from. Google Analytics collects this and sets cookies on your device; see Analytics below.
We do not ask for payment details, physical addresses, phone numbers, or anything about children.
What's visible to other people
A sign-up sheet is a shared document. Anyone with the link can see who has claimed which slot, including your name. That's the point of it — nobody wants to bring the ninth bag of shredded cheese. Assume your name and what you're bringing are visible to everyone the organizer shares the link with.
We don't show your email address to other volunteers. The organizer of the event can see it, because they may need to reach you.
Sign-up links are unlisted, not secret. We don't publish them or let search engines index them, but anyone who has the link can open the sheet. Treat it the way you'd treat a shared document link.
AI and your event descriptions
When you ask EventWrangler to plan an event, the description you type, the headcount, the budget, and the context you give about your organization are sent to OpenAI, our AI provider, to generate the plan. We don't send volunteer names or email addresses.
We also use what organizers correct — when you tell us 40 pounds of potatoes ran short — to improve our quantity estimates for future events. That data is aggregated and stripped of names before it's used this way.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people use and where they get stuck. It sets cookies and shares data with Google, which acts as our analytics provider. Google's own handling of that data is governed by its policies, not ours.
You can opt out with Google's browser add-on, with your browser's cookie controls, or by using a tracker-blocking extension. Nothing on the site breaks if you do.
We send two kinds of message: transactional mail about an event you're involved in — a confirmation when you claim a slot, a reminder the day before — and, rarely, a message about the service itself. Reminder emails carry an unsubscribe link, though unsubscribing means you'll stop getting reminders for events you signed up for.
We use Resend to deliver mail, which means your email address passes through their systems.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to run the thing: OpenAI for planning, Resend for email, Google Analytics, and our hosting providers. Each handles data on our behalf.
We will also disclose information if the law requires it.
We don't sell personal information and we don't share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Event data stays until the organizer deletes it or asks us to. Aggregated quantity data — the numbers with names removed — is kept indefinitely, because it's what makes the estimates better over time. Analytics data follows Google's retention settings.
Ask us to delete your information and we will, within 30 days.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll do it — we're not going to make you prove a statutory right first.
If you're in California, the CCPA gives you these rights formally, plus the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.
If you're in the EEA or UK, note that this service is operated from the United States and your information is processed there.
Children
EventWrangler is for adults organizing events. It isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their information. Events are often about children's schools, but we don't collect anything about students.
Security
We use ordinary, sensible protections — encrypted connections, access controls, secrets kept out of the code. No service can promise perfect security, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Changes
We'll update the date at the top when this changes, and say something more direct if the change is significant.
