Comparison
SignUp.com vs Event Wranglr: an honest comparison
SignUp.com is a full-featured sign-up tool with paid plans from $99.99 to $499.99 a year, and it sells removing ads as a separate upgrade. Event Wranglr is free with no ads, and it does the planning too: describe the event and it works out how much to buy. SignUp.com does more of the admin around a sign-up, such as payments, waivers and volunteer hours; if you need those, it is the better pick today.
We make Event Wranglr, so read this with that in mind. SignUp.com's side of the table is taken from its own pricing page, read on 28 September 2026, and prices change.

Where SignUp.com is the better choice
It has been doing this for years, and its free plan is generous: unlimited sign-ups, participants and emails, payments, calendar sync and a large set of themes. If your group collects money through its sign-ups, needs waivers signed or tracks service hours, SignUp.com does those and Event Wranglr does not. That is a real reason to stay.
Where Event Wranglr is the better choice
If the hard part is not collecting names but working out the list, Event Wranglr does that part. You type “baked potato bar for 100 staff, the PTA buys the potatoes, parents donate toppings” and it works out the amounts, turns them into packages a store actually sells (six 10 lb bags of potatoes, not “60 lb”), and builds the sheet. A volunteer can take three of eight bags and leave the rest.
It is also free in the way most PTAs mean it: no plan to outgrow, no assistant-organizer limit, and no advertising on the page you send parents. The one paid extra is text reminders, at $4.99 for one event, because every text costs us money to send.
Families can read the sheet and get their emails in Spanish, translated for you and checked by you. And after the event there is a “How it went” sheet, on paper or on your phone, that next year’s plan starts from. Moving over takes one paste: paste a sign-up and see it rebuilt here.
Questions people ask
How much does SignUp.com cost?
SignUp.com has a free Basic plan, then Starter at $99.99 a year, Plus at $249.99 a year and Max at $499.99 a year, with a Campus plan for K-12 schools starting at $99 a year. Those are the prices on its pricing page as read on 28 September 2026. Event Wranglr is free; the only thing it charges for is optional text reminders, $4.99 once for one event.
Does SignUp.com show ads?
Its pricing page marks every paid plan with an asterisk that reads “Ad-free upgrade available”, so removing advertising is sold separately from the plans themselves. Event Wranglr shows no advertising on any page, including the page volunteers sign up on, and there is nothing to upgrade.
What does SignUp.com do that Event Wranglr does not?
Collecting payments, themes and logos, calendar sync and embedding, shift swaps, locking a day, limiting spots per person, waivers, volunteer hours tracking, custom URLs, contact import and email delivery tracking. Some of those are free on SignUp.com and some need a paid plan. If you depend on one of them, SignUp.com is the better fit today.
